WIG, the documentary that explores the iconic drag queen, Lady Bunny, and her glamorous festival that became known as Wigstock, premieres on Monday, June 24th at 22hrs, on HBO and HBO GO.

Born in 1984 in New York City during a time of crisis in the gay community – the growing impact of the AIDS and the rampant backlash against gay pride – Wigstock became an annual end of summer celebration for over 20 years. In 2018, Lady Bunny brought it back, connecting legendary queens with a new generation of performers for one of the largest drag shows ever put together.

From Emmy®-nominated director, Chris Moukarbel (HBO's Banksy Does New York), WIG takes a look at the origins and influence of this iconic festival through archival footage and at the contemporary drag movement it helped inspire.
