HBO Latin America Hosts a 2018 International Emmy® Awards' Semi-Final Round of Judging in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro, August 2, 2018 – For the 12th consecutive year, HBO Latin America had the distinct honor of hosting a semifinal round of judging for the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which annually presents the International Emmy® Awards. Held in Rio de Janeiro, this was the first year the company hosts the yearly event in Brazil. The panel of judges was composed of ten great talents from the audiovisual industry in the country, who came together to evaluate the top productions in the designated category, according to the Academy’s standards.

The 2018 International Emmy® Awards Winners will be announced this November in the United States.

For this edition, jury participants included Bruno Barreto, director of THE AMERICAN GUEST, co-produced by HBO Latin America and Cygnus Media; Caio Gullane, producer of FUNK.DOC, by HBO Latin America in partnership with Gullane and Buriti Filmes, and also the Brazilian adaptation of the French comedy HARD, co-produced with Gullane; Claudia Tajes, writer of the HBO original series STATES OF GRACE; Fabrizia Pinto, director of MOTEL, a coproduction with Bossa Nova Films; Júlia Jordão, director of the successful original HBO series THE BUSINESS; Marina Person, director of the co-production between HBO Latin America and Prodigo Films, BREAKING THE SILENCE; and actors Paulo Gorgulho and Hugo Bonemer, both whom participated in the original series THE SECRET LIFE OF COUPLES. Additional participants in this round of judging included Luis F. Peraza, President of Networks for HBO Latin America, and Roberto Rios, Corporate Vice President of Original Production for HBO Latin America.

"It is a great privilege to be part of the jury for the most important awards in international television,” says Luis F. Peraza. "We are honored to have the opportunity to host this time-honored tradition for the 12th consecutive year, and are especially happy to be able to do it in Brazil," adds the President of Networks of HBO Latin America.

The 2018 International Emmy® nominees will be announced in September. The winners will be revealed at the 46th International Emmy® Awards on November 19th in New York City.
