Miami, April 4, 2013 – HBO Latin America will premiere the Emmy® nominated comedy series Veep on April 21st in the Caribbean. Coming back for a second season, the series stars Emmy® Award winner and Golden Globe® nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfus for her role as Selina Meyer, Vice President of the United States.
Veep follows Meyer and her staff as they attempt to make their mark and leave a lasting legacy, without getting tripped up in the day-to-day political games that define Washington. Picking up in the middle of midterm elections, Season 2 finds Selina scoring slightly above-average ratings in several popularity polls, which she uses to increase her influence and to curry favor with the president and his new senior strategist Kent Davison (Gary Cole). But, as seen in the last season, even the most banal decision made by Selina and her staff can set off a ripple effect that can have unexpected and far-reaching consequences. Over the course of ten episodes, the new season of this series hilariously skewers the nuances of everyday office politics – set against the backdrop of the second highest office in the land.
The show’s ensemble cast includes Tony Hale as Gary, Selina’s right-hand man; Anna Chlumsky as Amy, her chief of staff; Matt Walsh (HBO’s Hung) as Mike, Meyer’s weathered spokesperson; Reid Scott as Dan, an ambitious political aide; Timothy C. Simons as Jonah, a clueless White House liaison; and Sufe Bradshaw as Sue, Meyer’s seen-it-all executive assistant. Guests this season include Gary Cole (HBO’s Entourage) as senior strategist Kent Davison; Kevin Dunn (HBO’s Luck) as White House staffer Ben; and Jessica St. Clair as Dana, Gary’s new girlfriend.
Veep was created by Armando Iannucci, who also writes and directs several episodes this season. The series is executive produced by Iannucci, along with Frank Rich (of New York Magazine) and Christopher Godsick (Take the Lead), co-executive produced by Simon Blackwell, and produced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Stephanie Laing.
Veep is a half-hour HBO original comedy series.
